Appointment of new Executive Director
FirstGroup is pleased to announce that Dr Mike Mitchell has today joined the
Board of Directors of FirstGroup plc.
Mike Mitchell MA MBA PhD MCIT (51) began his career as a Graduate Management
Trainee with British Rail in 1970 and progressed in Rail Operations management
until 1986, when he was appointed Operations Manager for Eastern Scottish
Omnibuses Limited in Edinburgh. Following deregulation and privatisation, the
company was acquired by GRT Bus Group plc, which then merged with Badgerline
Group plc to form FirstGroup in 1995. In 1997, Mike became Divisional
Director of the North West bus division and Managing Director of First
Manchester.
Following the Group's acquisition of Great Western Holdings in 1998, Mike was
seconded to First North Western (while continuing his Divisional bus role) and
was subsequently appointed Managing Director, Rail Division and MD for First
Great Western in January 1999.
There are no other details required to be disclosed under paragraph 16.4 of
the Listing Rules
