                              Trading update

Ahead of a visit by analysts and investors to its operations in York, FirstGroup
confirms that overall trading in the first half of the year to date is in line
with its expectations. The Group will announce its interim results for the half
year to 30 September 2004 on Wednesday 3 November 2004.
