                   Paddy Power Appoints New Chief Executive


Paddy Power plc today Thursday, 20th June 2002, announces Board appointments.
John O'Reilly has been appointed Chief Executive in succession to Stewart Kenny.
John joined Paddy Power in 1988 and has held the post of Finance Director and
most recently Chief Operations Officer.  He has been a key member of the team,
which has overseen the expansion of the company's betting office network in
Ireland and he was responsible for establishing the company's telephone and
internet betting service.


Stewart Kenny has been appointed Chairman of Paddy Power plc.  He in turn
succeeds John Corcoran who retires as Chairman but maintains his involvement on
the Board as a non-executive Director.  Ian Armitage, a non-executive Director
since 2000, will become Deputy Chairman.


Announcing the Board and Management changes, Stewart Kenny said, 'Paddy Power's
key goal for the coming years is to bring its unique brand to a wider population
of customers in Ireland and the UK via betting offices, telephone and the
internet.


We are delighted to have a person of the calibre of John O'Reilly to lead the
team.  John has been one of the architects of the Paddy Power success story and
his experience and track record combined with his appreciation of the potential
of the business makes him the ideal Chief Executive to realise our objectives'.


He continued, 'In succeeding John Corcoran as Chairman, I have a very hard act
to follow.  John has played a hugely influential role in fashioning Paddy Power
into what it is today.  His assured direction and wise counsel has been
appreciated by all his Board colleagues and I am pleased that we will still
benefit from this as he remains on as a non-executive Director '.


John O'Reilly said: 'I am excited at the prospect of leading the Paddy Power
team through our next phase of development.  They are a tremendous group of
people who have successfully brought the business to where it is today.   I look
forward to building on our existing strengths, as we work towards reaching our
strategic objectives.'
