PADDY POWER SETS OUT SCOTTISH STALL
Ireland's largest bookmaker, Paddy Power, has expanded into the Scottish retail sector with the opening of its first high street licensed betting office (LBO) in Glasgow today.
The chain plans to open over 80 shops across Scotland and other UK locations by 2011 to grow its total UK estate to at least 150 shops, complementing its existing estate of almost 200 LBO's in the Republic of Ireland. The first Paddy Power shop opens today on Cambridge Street, Glasgow with further openings in Gilmour Street (14th Feb) and Duke Street (2nd March) to follow.
Paddy Power's eagerly anticipated investment in Scotland and other UK locations will see the creation of over 400 new jobs and an investment of £16-20m by 2011.
Patrick Kennedy, CEO of Paddy Power said 'Scottish punters have already experienced significant exposure to the unique brand offering of Paddy Power through our phone and online betting services. This move to ground and complement our brand with a bricks and mortar presence is very exciting and we look forward to bringing our unbeatable range of products and service to Scotland.'
