GALLIFORD TRY WINS £110 MILLION NEW CONTRACTS
Galliford Try, the construction and housebuilding group, is pleased to announce
that it has secured three new building contracts worth a combined total of £108
million and its first contract under its new Environment Agency framework.
The first of these contracts, valued at £41 million, is to construct the new
Museum of Liverpool. The building will be Liverpool's first new public building
of the twenty first century and will stand in a prominent position at the city's
famous waterfront. Completion is expected in early 2009.
In the second contract, of £37 million, Galliford Try will construct 255
apartments and 72 bungalows for the Larkhill Retirement Village in Clifton,
Nottingham. The site will also comprise village facilities and extensive
landscaping features. Completion is expected in January 2009.
The third contract, in excess of £30 million, is for Abbey Mills House in Abbey
Street, Reading. Galliford Try will provide a 14 storey office block and 8
storey affordable housing building. Work on the project begins in April 2007 and
is expected to complete in January 2009.
In addition, Galliford Try confirms that Morrison Construction, part of its
infrastructure division, has secured its first contract, a £3 million flood
alleviation scheme in Hereford, following its recent appointment as one of the
Environment Agency's contractors on its 4 year framework for its £500 million
flood defence, waterways and water resources programme. Under the framework the
Group will carry out core works including land remediation and construction of
flood defences.
Greg Fitzgerald, Chief Executive of Galliford Try, said:
'We are continuing to win attractive building contracts in our core market
sectors and adding to our long term workload with new framework wins in our
infrastructure division. In all of our work, our objective is to deliver first
