Genel Energy appoints Chakib Sbiti as independent non-executive director

Genel Energy plc ("Genel Energy"), the London listed E&P company and largest independent oil producer in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, today announced that it has appointed Chakib Sbiti as an independent non-executive director with immediate effect.  He will also become a member of the Political Risk and HSSE Committees of the Genel Energy Board.

Mr Sbiti has significant knowledge and experience of the oil sector, having held a long and distinguished career at Schlumberger, the world's largest oilfield services company, spanning over thirty years. At present, Mr Sbiti is a  Special Advisor to the Chairman and CEO at Schlumberger, a role he has held since 2010, having served as Executive Vice President of Oilfield Services and in various senior roles prior to this.
