Statement from Glanbia plc
On Wednesday, 8th May 2002, a fire caused significant damage to a Glanbia pig
processing facility in Roosky, Co. Roscommon, Ireland. The site was evacuated
and there were no injuries. While the damage is currently being assessed, early
indications suggest the plant may not return to production for some time.
The facility is fully insured for fire damage and consequential loss.
Contingency plans have been activated to minimise disruption to the business.
Customers will continue to be served by utilising available capacity and
additional shifts in Glanbia's other two Irish pig processing facilities in
Roscrea and Edenderry, and contracted production, if required.
