Zap-Map signs up GeniePoint and char.gy as new Zap-Pay partners
Good Energy Group PLC (AIM: GOOD), the 100% renewable electricity supplier and innovative energy services provider, is pleased to announce that GeniePoint and char.gy are the latest charge point operators to join Zap-Pay, the simple way to pay for EV charging across networks from within the Zap-Map app.
New Zap-Pay charging partners
Zap-Map currently has over 200,000 registered users, and over 95% of the UK's public points on its network, with over 75% of the UK's EV drivers having downloaded Zap-Map. There are now over 500,000 plug-in cars on UK roads and sales have skyrocketed by over 170% in the year to date versus 2020, including over 54,000 sales of pure electric vehicles.
Launched last year with a mission to sign up all the key charge point networks across the UK, Zap-Pay is the simple way to pay for EV charging across networks from within the Zap-Map app. The Zap-Pay service also includes a 24/7 multi-lingual helpdesk for all payment-related issues, which is provided by EVA Global - an international, leading managed services provider, specialised in the electric mobility industry.
GeniePoint
National EV charging network GeniePoint is the latest to join Zap-Pay. Zap-Map and EQUANS - the new name for ENGIE's services-led activity and the company that owns and runs the GeniePoint network - recently signed the agreement to include GeniePoint in the Zap-Pay partner network.
GeniePoint is currently the fourth-largest rapid-charging network in the UK, excluding the Tesla network, comprising almost 700 charge points, including over 400 rapid chargers, in England, Scotland and Wales. The network has chargers at over 200 sites of supermarket chain Morrisons, and has recently been appointed as Whitbread's EV charging partner to install EV chargers across their Premier Inn estate.
EQUANS' specialist EV solutions business provides integrated charging solutions that bring together quality hardware with its own proprietary software: the GeniePoint Network, a cloud-based system that ensures interoperability across all GeniePoint-operated charge points.
Char.gy
char.gy, the London-based company, operates just under 1,000 charge points, the majority in and around London and Coventry. It was formed to solve the problem of where to charge an electric vehicle for those in the UK without off-street parking.
With char.gy's on-street coverage soon to become Zap-Pay enabled, today's announcement marks an important step towards convenient, trouble-free charging on the streets of London and Coventry.
To date, char.gy has focused on manufacturing simple-to-use charge points for local authorities in England. The company is now in a strong position to further expand in both the public and private sectors. It is currently the seventh largest charging network in the UK.
Nigel Pocklington, Chief Executive Officer at Good Energy said:
"Electric vehicle adoption continues to accelerate at record rates and Zap-Map are providing crucial solutions to remove many barriers to adoption for existing and new EV drivers. The successful launch of their premium subscription service is a demonstration of the value that EV drivers place on having such valuable information at their fingertips.
Zap-Pay is a unique service which provides a seamless and hassle-free experience for electric vehicle drivers. The launch of further partners is another step towards opening up Britain's charging network to EV drivers and I look forward to seeing this progress at speed."
Alex Earl, Commercial Director at Zap - Map said:
"We're thrilled to welcome both GeniePoint and char.gy on board to Zap-Pay. As a nationwide charging network with well-placed rapid and fast charge points, GeniePoint's inclusion in the Zap-Pay partner network will make paying for charging that much easier for Zap-Map users.
Char.gy, whose well designed charging solutions for councils and parking providers are helping to accelerate the uptake of electric vehicles, particularly for those without off-street parking
The GeniePoint Network's focus on quality and interoperability and char.gy's easy-to-use ethos chimes perfectly with Zap-Map's mission to make charging simple, and having them on board is great news for EV drivers, who will benefit from a convenient and easy-to-use service.
As electric vehicles become mainstream, we need to make paying for charging as simple as possible, so we're excited to be adding more networks to Zap-Pay over the course of the year."
Dee Humphries, Managing Director for EV Solutions at EQUANS, said:
"GeniePoint is focussed on making it as easy as possible for all EV drivers to get a charge when they need it. We recognise that we need to keep working hard to make it easier for customers and we are committed to constantly improving the experience for our drivers. I'm excited for us to be integrating with Zap-Pay, which will provide greater choice, simplicity and convenience for EV drivers across the country.
Zap-Map and EQUANS look forward to publishing further announcements on the partnership in August once the technical integration is complete."
Richard Stobart, CEO and Founder of char.gy said:
"We want to make the use of electric vehicles as easy as possible for all EV drivers, so I am really excited about this integration with Zap-Pay. Our customers will now have the choice to make payment in a way that is most convenient to them."
