Board Changes at Great Portland Estates P.L.C.
Great Portland announces that Robert Noel will join the Board as Property
Director on 1st August 2002. Paul Gittens will be retiring as an Executive
Director at the AGM on 17th July, and will remain as a consultant to the
Executive Team for up to one year.
Robert Noel has been a Director at Nelson Bakewell for the last ten years and
his appointment marks the first senior management change since the arrival of
the new Chief Executive Toby Courtauld two months ago.
Toby Courtauld said 'I am delighted that Robert will be joining Great Portland.
He brings with him a wealth of experience in active property management and
investment with a particular bias to the Central London market. I would also
like to thank Paul for his significant contribution to the Company's many
successes over the past 32 years, the last 13 as a Director.'

Robert Noel, 37, graduated from Reading University in 1986. In 1987 he joined
Nelson Bakewell, property consultants, where he has held a number of positions
including Director of Investment and Director of Special Projects with
responsibility for advising on corporate transactions and management of joint
ventures. In 1992 he was appointed to the Board of Nelson Bakewell and served
as a member of the Group Executive Committee from 1996 to 2001.
Throughout his time as Director of Special Projects he has led a number of high
profile transactions specialising in Central London. These include a highly
successful three year joint venture between MEPC and GE Capital from 1999 to
2002 involving the active management and refurbishment of a £200 million
portfolio. He led a team with a broad mandate to manage all aspects of the
portfolio, including refurbishments and sales. He also advised a £250 million
joint venture between Benchmark Group Plc and JE Robert to purchase and manage a
portfolio of large Central London buildings.
He was property advisor to Leconport Estates in their recommended cash offer for
MEPC.
