GREENCORE APPOINTS NEW CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER
Greencore Group Plc ('Greencore') today (Friday, 2nd February 2001) announces
the appointment of a new Chief Operating Officer. Tony Hynes, currently
Managing Director of Green Isle Foods, part of the Northern Foods Group, will
join Greencore at the end of April 2001 as Chief Operating Officer. He will
also join the Greencore Board.
Mr. Hynes is an excellent addition to the senior executive team at Greencore,
led by David Dilger, and will become responsible for all operations within the
Group. He will bring his extensive skills and experience, together with his
outstanding track record, to this very important leadership role within the
Group.
Commenting on Tony Hynes' appointment, David Dilger, Chief Executive of
Greencore, said today: 'I am delighted to announce the addition of a person of
Tony's calibre to the Greencore team and am confident that he will make an
important contribution in helping us to drive the Group forward in the new
directions which we have chosen.'
Biography - Tony Hynes, New Chief Operating Officer,
Greencore Group plc.
Prior to joining Greencore as Chief Operating Officer, Tony Hynes was Managing
Director of Green Isle Foods Ltd. Tony joined Green Isle in 1996 and drove the
company's development strategy, leading the company through its recent strong
growth and profitability with leading brand positions in Ireland and the UK.
During this period he also devised and managed a number of strategic
developments such as the disposal of the Pierre's business to IAWS for £21m
last year, and more recently, the acquisition of the speciality frozen food
company, Lacemont.
Prior to Green Isle Foods, Tony held numerous positions in Essilor
International, a worldwide leader in ophthalmic optics. He was General Manager
- China, responsible for establishing a sales organisation in China and for
managing a joint venture involving the construction of a $60 million
manufacturing facility. He was Group Director of Industrial Planning - Paris,
where he managed the worldwide manufacturing capacity and investment programme
of the Group. Tony was Vice President of Operations for Transitions Optical, a
new venture bringing a highly innovative product to the market and its
subsequent expansion into Europe and Asia.
Tony is the Chairman for the Foundation for Investing in Communities, an
initiative aimed at encouraging corporates to contribute to their local
communities. He is also a member of the National Executive of IBEC.
