Gulfsands Petroleum PLC (Symbol GPX), the Aim listed oil and gas exploration,
development and production company with activities in the USA, Syria and Iraq,
announces that its non-executive chairman, John Bolsover has resigned as a
director of the Company with effect from 31 January 2006.  Mutually acceptable
terms have been agreed.

The Board is presently considering the appointment of a new chairman and expects
to be able to make an announcement in the near future.

John Bolsover said:

'This decision was taken because we found we had different management approaches
and styles which have proved difficult to reconcile.'

John Dorrier, CEO of Gulfsands Petroleum, said:

'We believe this is the best outcome under the circumstances and appreciate
John's contribution to the board.  We wish him well for the future.'
