HALMA PLC
4 August 1999
105TH ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
At the Annual General Meeting of Halma p.l.c held today, 4 August 1999, at the
Four Seasons Hotel, London, David Barber, Chairman, made the following comments
on trading.
'During the opening months of the current financial year trading has continued
to be satisfactory. Our expectations are that profits for the first half,
before tax, exceptional items and goodwill amortisation, will be in excess of
the record result reported in the corresponding period last year.
'Air Products and Controls Inc., E-Motive Display Ptc Limited and Oklahoma
Safety Equipment Company, Inc., all purchased since March 1999, are being
integrated as planned and prospects for all these businesses are favourable.
'In my statement in the 1998/99 Report and Accounts I commented that, in my own
judgement, we have never been better positioned, or stronger commercially, than
we now are. The Group's progress within the current year continues to provide
ample support for this confidence.'
