Halma PLC
2 August 2000
106TH ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
At the Annual General Meeting of Halma p.l.c. held today, 2 August 2000, David
Barber, Chairman, made the following comments on trading.
'During the opening months of the current financial year trading has been
very encouraging, with sales more than 10% in advance of the comparable
period last year.
'The businesses purchased during March 2000 or during the current financial
year were Cutler-Hammer, a substantial resistor business which has
manufacturing facilities in the USA and in the UK; Hydreka, a
water-monitoring company in France; and Vandal-Proof Products Inc which
manufactures emergency communication equipment in the USA. I am pleased to
report that each of these has continued to perform very satisfactorily
since joining the Group.
'In the 1999/2000 Report and Accounts I commented on the continuing strength
and commercial competitiveness of the Group and my belief is that the
current year will demonstrate real progress towards achieving our long-term
goals. The results of the first three months of this year have been
encouraging in this context.'
