Hammerson PLC 08 May 2003 Hammerson plc - Board Changes Hammerson plc has today appointed David Edmonds as a non-executive director of the Company. David Edmonds is Director General of Telecommunications ('Oftel'), a position he has held since March 1998, and a Member of the Board of Ofcom, the Office of Communications, since October 2002. His previous appointments include: Managing Director, Group Central Services, NatWest Group (1991-Dec 1997); Chief Executive, Housing Corporation (1984-1991); Civil Service Posts at the Department of the Environment (1966-1984). He is a Council Member, University of Keele, a Board Member of English Partnerships and a Member, Steering Board of the Radiocommunications Agency, the DTI agency responsible for spectrum planning, allocation and licensing. Ronald Spinney, Chairman of Hammerson said: ' We are delighted to welcome David Edmonds to the Board. He has very broad experience both of the public and private sectors. I am sure that he will make a major contribution to Hammerson.' Aged 59, Mr Edmonds was educated at Helsby County Grammar School, Cheshire and University of Keele. Married, with four children, his interests include opera, theatre, art, travel, running and golf. Mr Edmonds replaces Frank Charnock who stands down from the Board at today's Annual General Meeting. Paying tribute, Ronald Spinney said: ' We are grateful to Mr Charnock for his contribution to Hammerson over 40 years and his wise counsel to the Board as a non-executive director over the last nine years.'
