Transaction in own shares

Following the acquisition of 400,000 shares on 28 October 2010 and 325,000 shares on 29 October 2010, the Company purchased a further 75,000 ordinary shares at a price of 417.09 pence per share through Deutsche Bank AG on 1 November 2010.

The shares purchased will all be held as treasury shares pending their transfer to the Company's Employee Benefit Trust.  Following the purchase of these shares Hammerson plc holds 800,000 ordinary shares in treasury, and Hammerson plc's issued share capital consists of 706,778,856 ordinary shares with voting rights (excluding treasury shares).

The above figure may be used by shareholders as the denominator for the calculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify their interest in, or a change to their interest in, Hammerson plc under the FSA's Disclosure and Transparency Rules.
