Hammerson plc transaction in own shares

On 12 August 2011, Hammerson plc transferred 400,000 ordinary shares of 25p held as treasury shares to the Hammerson Employee Benefit Trust.

The Company's total issued share capital following the transfer comprises 712,610,347 ordinary shares of 25p each with one voting right per share.  No shares are now held in treasury.
