                        ACQUISITION OF RAINBOW HOLIDAYS
                                       
Holidaybreak plc is pleased to announce that, its subsidiary, Superbreak Mini-
holidays Ltd, has reached agreement to acquire the assets and goodwill of
Rainbow Holidays (1997) Ltd a UK hotel short-breaks business from First Choice
Holidays PLC.

The acquisition of Rainbow will consolidate the Group's market leading
position for hotel short-breaks booked through retail travel agencies.
Rainbow will join the existing portfolio of brands which includes Superbreak,
Goldenrail, The Luxury Hotel Collection, Theatrebreaks and Airport Hotels.
Both companies are based in York and little operational disruption is
anticipated, with the  majority of existing staff being retained.

This is the second 'bolt-on' acquisition made by the Hotel Breaks division in
recent months.  In July, it acquired Hotelnet, a well established UK Internet
booking portal which the Company aims to develop into one of Europe's leading
on-line booking sites.

Commenting on the acquisition, Richard Atkinson, Chief Executive said:

strong growth in both retail and direct sales.  The rapid progress made by the
on-line Internet booking facility at www.superbreak.com has been particularly
