Trevor Larman to be New Non-Executive Chairman

                        Headlam appoints new Chairman
                                                                             
Headlam Group plc ('Headlam'), the leading UK floorcoverings and furnishings
distributor, announces that Trevor Larman will take up the position of  Non-
Executive  Chairman  on 1 January 2000.  Mr Larman,  54,  has  been  a  Non-
Executive director of Headlam since March 1994.

The  current  Chairman,  Graham  Waldron, 69,  will  remain  on  the  Board,
initially as an Executive Director until the end of 2000, thereafter he will
become  a  Non-Executive  Director.   Mr  Waldron  will  continue  to   have
responsibility  for  assisting  in  the Group's  development  of  the  floor
coverings distribution businesses.

Commenting on this announcement Ian Kirkham, Chief Executive, Headlam  Group
