Appointment of a new Director

Henderson Opportunities Trust plc ('the Company') announces that Mr Christopher Philip Hills will be appointed a non-executive director with effect from 17 June 2010. 

Chris Hills is Chief Investment Officer of Rensburg Sheppards Investment Management, a position he has held (originally with Carr Sheppards) for fourteen years.  He was formerly a director of Baring Fund Management.

Chris Hills is a non-executive director of Invesco Income Growth Trust plc.  There is no further information to be disclosed under Listing Rule 9.6.13 R in respect of Mr

Hills.

The Company also gives notification that Mr Richard Smith will retire from the Board, having served for 25 years, with effect from a date in the autumn of 2010 to be determined.

Commenting on the appointment, George Burnett, the Chairman of Henderson Opportunities Trust plc, said:  "We are delighted that Chris Hills has agreed to join our Board.  He brings a deep experience of investment matters that will be of great value to the Trust in the years ahead."
