Board Appointment

The Henderson Smaller Companies Investment Trust plc announces that Ms M A Sieghart has been appointed a non-executive director of the Company, with immediate effect.  Mary Ann Sieghart, who is 46, was Assistant Editor of The Times from 1998 to 2007. She sits on the Advisory Council of Into University and is a Trustee of the Radcliffe Trust and Vice-President of the National Association for Gifted Children.  She is also a presenter of 'Newshour' on the BBC World Service.  

As announced previously, Mr J M P Taylor will retire from the Board at the conclusion of the Annual General Meeting on 26 September 2008. He will be succeeded as the Company's Senior Independent Director by Mr J J Nelson.
