Top Accolades

for Henry Boot Construction

Henry Boot Construction (UK) Ltd, a trading subsidiary of Henry Boot PLC has received five prestigious National Site Awards under the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS). The awards recognise sites' excellent standards and consideration towards the workforce, the community and the environment.

Henry Boot Construction received two Gold and one Silver Considerate Constructors Awards for projects undertaken on behalf of their clients, Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council and St Leger Homes of Doncaster as well as the additional accolade of two 'runner up' awards for the Most Considerate Site in the United Kingdom.

The Awards go to the following Henry Boot projects:

· Structural Repairs to Airey Houses, Catliffe & Ulley, Rotherham - Gold Award, and runner up for Most Considerate Site 2010 Award

· St Leger Homes of Doncaster-Conisborough - Gold Award, and runner up for Most Considerate Site 2010 Award

· St Leger Homes of Doncaster-Scawsby - Silver Award

Under the Considerate Constructors Scheme, 7,600 eligible sites were audited and received inspections on a regular basis. Of these, 580 were shortlisted for awards, representing around 7.5% of the eligible schemes. These were then reviewed by an Independent Panel who assessed inspection data and points given by the Scheme's Monitor and subsequently indentified which were worthy to receive a Bronze, Silver or Gold Awards. 63 sites nationwide received gold awards. In addition, one of the Gold Award sites would also be honoured with the 'UK's Most Considerate Site 2010, with runners up to this overall title.

Commendations were given by the Considerate Constructors Scheme for initiatives which included:

· Staff identity cards included names in Braille, and names and job title were both displayed on all hard hats.

· Initiatives with the local school covered both holiday and term times and included the Resident Liaison Officer organising a holiday club where local children were involved with strawberry planting, a competition for building a model house, and an egg hunt at Easter' - Structural Repairs to Airey Houses, Rotherham.

· Many excellent environmental initiatives were in place, including the recycling of tenants' old white goods, the donation of wormeries and the charging of tool batteries by solar power' - St Leger Homes of Doncaster, Conisbrough.

The Considerate Constructors Scheme is an independent non-profit making organisation founded in 1997. This initiative operates voluntary Site and Company Codes of Considerate Practice, with which participating construction companies and sites register.

The voluntary Code of Practice aims to ensure that inconvenience and disruption to residents, businesses are kept to a minimum.
