Andy Hornby to step down from non-executive director role at 
Home Retail Group plc 

Andy Hornby has decided to step down from his current responsibilities with Home Retail Group at the conclusion of our Annual General Meeting on 1st  July 2009. This follows the announcement on 8th June that he is being appointed as Chief Executive of Alliance Boots. Andy has decided that there would be a clear conflict by continuing to serve on the Board of Home Retail Group.

Oliver Stocken, Chairman of Home Retail Group, commented:

'Andy Hornby has made a significant contribution to our business as a non-executive director of Home Retail Group plc since we were established in October 2006. His experience as a retailer and a business leader has been invaluable over the years. He leaves with our gratitude and respect. The Home Retail Group board have enjoyed working with Andy and wish him every success in his new role.'
