I write to inform you that HSBC Holdings plc will make a preliminary
announcement of its results for the year to 31 December 2001 after the market
closes at 4pm Hong Kong time on Monday 4 March 2002 and will announce its
interim results for the six months to 30 June 2002 after the market closes at
4pm Hong Kong time on Monday 5 August 2002.
