FIRST SALES OF 3DX-RAY TECHNOLOGY INTO INDIA
The Board of Image Scan, specialists in the field of real-time 3D and 2D x-ray imaging for Security and Industrial Inspection markets, announces orders of £200,000 received in January for its security products, including its first direct sales into India.
Following the recent terrorist attacks that occurred in Mumbai in November 2008, Image Scan has secured orders for its unique Axis-3d® x-ray baggage screening system and for its portable x-ray FlatScan-TPXi system. Both are destined for showcasing the latest security technology at Delhi's principal railway station.
The Axis-3d® system is a baggage inspection system similar to those found in airports, but which enables the operator to view the contents of a bag in the same stereoscopic way as our eyes see the real world. As a result the chances of the operator missing a gun, bomb or other threat are significantly reduced. The images produced by Axis-3d® offer unparalleled clarity, which is essential if screeners are to spot and identify the smaller individual component parts of a bomb, such as timers, wires and detonators.
The FlatScan-TPXi system is used by many security forces worldwide, including the British Transport Police. It is a portable digital x-ray system offering both one of the largest active imaging areas and the clearest images available on any system of its type. Not only can it detect components down to the sub-millimetre scale but it can differentiate between materials, such as plastic explosives and the metals used in guns, knives and other threats. .
In addition to the order from India, Image Scan sold a further 10 FlatScan-TPXi units in January through its distributor, iCM, who has recently secured orders from Thailand and Egypt.
Image Scan's CEO, Louise George, commented, 'After a slow start to the financial year, the Company has received an encouraging level of security orders in excess of £800,000 in the last six weeks in spite of difficult global economic conditions. These orders are for delivery to Asia and the Middle East where the security challenges demand the highest probability of threat detection.'
