             Buyback of 250,000 ordinary shares ofor cancellation

Inchcape announces that on 21 June 2001 it purchased for cancellation 250,000
ordinary shares of 150p each at 460p per share.

Since Inchcape started to buyback its ordinary shares on 21 March 2001 it has
repurchased for cancellation a total of 10,452,500 ordinary shares leaving
77,930,407 ordinary shares in issue.
