                          Share re-purchase programme

Inchcape plc ('the Company') announces that on 16 May 2006, it purchased 153,033
ordinary shares of 25p each.  The maximum price paid was 465p and the minimum
price paid was 451p


The Company intends to hold these shares in treasury.


Since the Company started buying back shares on 15 April 2005, it has acquired
11,536,061 ordinary shares.  Following the purchase of these shares the Company
holds 11,536,061 of its shares in treasury and has 468,950,959 shares in issue
(excluding treasury shares).
