                          Share re-purchase programme



Inchcape plc ('the Company') announces that on 1 June 2006, it purchased 281,924
ordinary shares of 25p each.  The maximum price paid was 435p and the minimum
price paid was 428p


The Company intends to hold these shares in treasury.


Since the Company started buying back shares on 15 April 2005, it has acquired
16,588,298 ordinary shares.  Following the purchase of these shares the Company
holds 16,588,298 of its shares in treasury and has 463,952,716 shares in issue
(excluding treasury shares).
