McGraw-Hill Education Signs Agreement with ingenta
ingenta plc, the global market leader in the online distribution of published
scientific, professional and academic research, is pleased to announce it has
signed a major new agreement with McGraw-Hill Professional, a unit of
McGraw-Hill Education, a leading global provider of educational and
professional materials.
The contract expands McGraw-Hill Education's existing partnership with
ingenta, which provides online hosting services for Access Medicine,
McGraw-Hill Professional's portal to its widely respected medical and
scientific information and resources. The new agreement, which covers services
to be delivered during 2001 and 2002, extends the collaboration to the
creation and support of web versions of over 20 additional medical titles
within the Access Medicine family.
Harrison's Online, the web-based version of the world's best-selling internal
medicine reference book Harrison's Principles of Internal Medicine was the
first McGraw-Hill Professional product that employed ingenta's services back
in 1998. Among its many achievements, Harrison's Online was one of the first
online reference works to be licensed nationally across the US and is now
viewed by around 200,000 users per month.
Under the new agreement, McGraw-Hill Professional will provide physicians,
students and health professionals around the world with expanded online access
to its vast library of the medical and research reference works, books and
auxiliary content such as news, related sites.
Commenting on the developments, Mark Rowse, Chief Executive, ingenta plc said:
'We have been working successfully with McGraw-Hill for over three years now
and we are delighted they have asked us to extend our services to them. The
contract is a significant addition to the Company's turnover for 2001 and 2002
and also further increases our forward financial visibility.'
Mike Hayes, Vice President and Group Publisher, McGraw-Hill Professional,
added:
'We are pleased to extend our involvement with ingenta to the next phase in
the online development of McGraw-Hill Professional's offerings. The
combination of ingenta's technology and McGraw-Hill Professional's content has
a proven track record as shown by the success of Harrison's Online. This
expanded agreement enables us to satisfy our customers' need to access more of
our 'must have' reference works at the click of a mouse.'

search and delivery service through www.ingenta.com, ingenta also develops
