Intec Telecom Systems
announces next version of Inter-mediatE(TM)
Version 4 of Inter-mediatE(TM) transforms mobile, IP, fixed, content data into
revenue-generating business information
London/Atlanta - 19 March, 2002 - Intec Telecom Systems, a leading worldwide
operations support systems (OSS) vendor for fixed, mobile and IP/next-generation
networks, today announced Version 4 of its carrier-grade convergent mediation
system, Inter-mediatE(TM). Version 4 adds substantial new capabilities to
Inter-mediatE, emphasising its capabilities to provide the highest levels of
next-generation functionality to all types of carriers, including mobile (3G,
CDMA, TDMA, GSM) operators, pure IP, Voice-over-IP and convergent operators,
content providers, and all types of fixed line carriers. Inter-mediatE, a
real-time 3G Data Acquisition and Mediation system, is currently in use by over
115 companies worldwide. Customers include companies such as Verizon, Orange,
Hutchison 3G, ITXC, BellSouth and Telstra.
"Mediation is the most critical component of any carrier's OSS and Business
Support Systems (BSS)," said Rick Woods, VP of Product Management and Business
Development at Intec Telecom Systems. "It is the portal between the network and
the systems that generate revenue, allowing you to understand and know your
customers while running an efficient, competitive business. Inter-mediatE
Version 4 builds on the worldwide success of previous versions with the
performance and functionality needed for the most sophisticated content-carrying
next-generation networks, as well as high-volume mobile and fixed line
networks."
Some of the new capabilities to be released in V4 include: a new Content
Manager, which will allow operators to collect information on complex,
high-value information delivery occuring over their networks, and construct the
billing records needed to generate revenues from customers and business
partners; a substantially enhanced Graphical User Interface, which builds on
Inter-mediatE's reputation for fast user configurability; a new Roaming Manager
which can accept and process industry-standard roaming data file formats; and
new reporting capabilities designed to give users much richer information on the
traffic data being collected on their networks.
In V4, Intec has also focused on enhanced performance. Already recognised as one
of the most scalable solutions in use today, with production installations in
place processing volumes from 25,000 to 750 million events per day, V4 builds on
the distributed architecture of previous versions, collecting and pre-processing
traffic data close to the point of origination. This is particularly effective
in IP-based and mobile networks, where the network elements generating traffic
data can be physically separated by long distances, and many produce large
volumes of duplicate or detailed information. Intec's benchmark results already
prove that Inter-mediatE is capable of processing over 12.8 billion records in
an 8-hour period on current platforms, a level far in excess of today's customer
needs, but expected to become commonplace in the next few years.
Intec will release Inter-mediatE V4 in summer 2002.
