US-based Union Telephone Company selects mediation, activation and CABS product
suite from Intec for fixed and wireless services
• Growing ILEC to use convergent solution for multi-service portfolio
including GPRS
February 10, 2004 - Intec Telecom Systems, a global provider of Operations
Support Systems (OSS) for fixed, wireless, and IP/next generation networks,
today announced a contract with Union Telephone Company of Wyoming, US for a
suite of products to automate and streamline the operator's service operations,
and to enable Union Telephone to improve its service offerings, quality, and
delivery to its customers throughout the region. Union Telephone will license
all of Intec's main US product offerings, including convergent mediation
(Inter-mediatE), service activation (Inter-activatE), and carrier access billing
(InterconnecT CABS CG). This will provide Union Telephone with a comprehensive
back-office solution that collects and processes information for billing
purposes and assures customer service satisfaction.
Intec's convergent mediation solution, Inter-mediatE, is used by operators to
collect and process any kind of network data from simple voice traffic to
sophisticated next-generation services. The charging gateway functions provided
by Inter-mediatE will enable Union Telephone to seamlessly support GPRS services
over its GSM wireless network.
Intec's Inter-activatE solution provides a single platform service activation
capability that minimises operational costs while improving customer
satisfaction. Union Telephone will use Intec's Interconnect CABS CG solution to
bill other carriers for the completion of calls to its customer base, thus
maximising the revenue potential of its network.
"When it became evident that Union Telephone's existing OSS needed to be
upgraded to support our current operations, we evaluated potential replacements.
Intec offers a comprehensive OSS suite specifically designed for the
telecommunications industry," said Alan Marchant, CIO at Union Telephone. "
Union Telephone is extremely pleased to be working with a vendor of the calibre
of Intec, and to be able to use its market-leading solutions."
In business for 90 years, Union Telephone Company is a family-owned and operated
independent local exchange carrier (ILEC) serving areas of Wyoming, Utah, and
Colorado. Originally a wireline operator for southwest Wyoming only, in the
last decade Union Telephone expanded its service offering and coverage area with
wireless voice, cable, and Internet access.
"Intec has a long history of serving the needs of the ILEC community and is
actively targeting this market with appropriately sized, comprehensive solutions
that will allow them to maximise the revenue derived from their network usage.
Intec is very pleased to add Union Telephone to our growing list of ILEC
customers," said Fred Brott, President of Intec North America.
