Purchase of Shares For HOLDING IN TREASURY

International Biotechnology Trust plc (the 'Company') announces that on 29 October 2008 the Company purchased 750,000 shares at a price of £1.18 pence per share for holding in treasury. Following this purchase, there are a further 69,842,664 shares in issue, 750,000 of which are held in treasury.
