Confirmation of Auditor resignation and transition

CONFIRMATION OF AUDITOR RESIGNATION AND TRANSITION
Royal Mail plc (RMG.L) announces that a Statement of Circumstances (the Statement) from Ernst & Young LLP (EY), confirming its resignation as the Company's Auditor, was received by the Company on 17 September 2015 in accordance with Section 519 of the Companies Act 2006. Copies of the Statement received and the covering letter sent to shareholders has been submitted to the National Storage Mechanism and will shortly be available for inspection at http://www.morningstar.co.uk/uk/NSM.
As you may recall, we first reported our intention to hold a competitive audit tender process in our Annual Report & Financial Statements 2013-14. We initiated this process in light of emerging best practice, new requirements with respect to audit tenure and the fact that the existing auditor, EY had been incumbent for some time. As confirmed in our most recent Annual Report & Financial Statements 2014-15, a rigorous tender process was conducted, which resulted in the Royal Mail plc Board recommending to shareholders that KPMG LLP be appointed as auditor of the Company with effect from the 2015-16 financial year. Shareholders overwhelmingly endorsed this appointment at the Annual General Meeting held on 23 July 2015.
