Intertek announces the acquisition of Biodata - a food, environmental and
agricultural laboratory.

Intertek Group plc (Intertek), the leading international provider of quality and
safety services to a wide range of industries, announces the acquisition of
biodata ANALYTIK GmbH ('Biodata'), an independent laboratory in Germany.

Intertek purchased Biodata from its German parent company K+S Consulting GmbH
for a cash consideration of €3.6m (GBP2.5m). Biodata provides expert laboratory
analysis and evaluation with a focus on food with additional provision of
analytical services on animal feed and agricultural products, plus analysis and
evaluation of the quality of water, soil, air and waste products. The company
works in accordance with Good Laboratory Practice ('GLP') standards and has a
range of other accreditations for the services it offers.

Biodata will enhance Intertek's global food business, particularly in Europe and
will complement services available to customers, aligning with other Intertek
facilities and centres of excellence internationally. Services are provided to a
wide range of customers from manufacturers through to retailers.

Biodata's analytical services are provided by experts who are leaders in their
fields and include chemists, food chemists, agricultural engineers, and
veterinarians. In total the company has 32 employees on two sites in Linden and
Magdeburg, Germany
