NOTIFICATION CONCERNING MAJOR INTERESTS IN THE ORDINARY SHARES OF £0.001 EACH IN
THE CAPITAL OF INVESTEC plc ('Ordinary Shares')

 
Notification pursuant to section 198 of the Companies Act 1985.

 
Investec plc (the 'Company') received notification on the 6th September 2004
that, on the 1st September 2004, Spurwing - P Investments Limited ('Spurwing')
acquired 1,332,821 Ordinary Shares, being 1.79% of the Ordinary Shares of the
Company, from Fintique III (BVI) Limited ('Fintique'), the delivery and
settlement date in terms of this transaction is the 15th December 2004.

 

The total holdings of Spurwing and Fintique prior to the notification are laid
out below:

At the same time, Spurwing - L Investments Limited acquired from Fintique III
(BVI) Limited 367,179 ordinary shares of ZAR0.001 each in Investec Limited,
being 0.8% of the capital of that company. Following this notification Spurwing
- L Investments Limited holds 1,282,179 (2.9%) in the ordinary share capital of
Investec Limited.
