As part of the dual listed company ('DLC') structure, Investec plc and Investec
Limited notify both the London Stock Exchange and the JSE Limited of matters
which are required to be disclosed under the Disclosure, Transparency and
Listing Rules of the United Kingdom Listing Authority (the 'UKLA') and/or the
JSE Listing Requirements.
Accordingly, we advise of the following:
Investec plc and Investec Limited ('Investec' or 'the group')
Trading statement - Investec to report strong performance for the 2007 financial
year
Investec is currently finalising its results for the year ended 31 March 2007,
which will be released on 17 May 2007.
As highlighted at our pre-close briefing on 22 March 2007, the group has
experienced a strong performance from the majority of its business units and is
pleased to report to shareholders that earnings per share** (as defined below)
for the year ended 31 March 2007 is likely to be 24% to 29% higher than the
corresponding prior period. Restated earnings per share** for the year ended 31
March 2006 amounted to 41.9 pence.
Note:
The forecast financial information on which this statement is based has not been
reviewed and reported on by the group's auditors. These disclosures are made in
terms of paragraph 3.4 (b)(i) of the JSE Limited Listings Requirements which
requires companies to publish a trading statement as soon as they are satisfied
that the results for the period to be reported on next will differ by at least
20% from the previous corresponding period.
Earnings per share definition:
**As determined in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards.
EPS is before goodwill impairment and non-operating items and after taking into
consideration the accrual of dividends attributable to perpetual preference
shareholders. EPS for the year ended 31 March 2006 has been restated for the 5:1
share split that took place on 4 September 2006.
Details pertaining to the year end results presentation to be held on 17 May
2007:
Investec will be releasing its results for the year ended 31 March 2007 on the
LSE and JSE news services at 7am (UK time) / 8am (SA time) on 17 May 2007. An
