IQE plc announces that application has been made to the Financial Services
Authority and the London Stock Exchange for 616,637 ordinary shares of 1 pence
each to be admitted to the Official List.  It is expected that admission of
the new shares will be granted on 09 May 2001 and that trading will commence
on 10 May 2001.
