ITM Power plc
("ITM Power" or the "Company")
California Hydrogen Business Council ("CHBC")
ITM Power joins the CHBC as a new board representative
ITM Power (AIM: ITM), the energy storage and clean fuel company, is pleased to announce that the California Hydrogen Business Council (CHBC) has appointed two new members to its 2013 Board of Directors. During the 25 July Board Meeting at American Honda Motors in Torrance, CA, Geoff Budd of ITM Power and Anca Faur of Johnson Matthey Fuel Cells were unanimously voted to join the Board as Directors at Large.
California has taken a big step forward in making grid-scale energy storage on a large scale a reality. In 2010, the California Assembly Bill 2514 was passed, the first state law calling for grid-scale energy storage. California has in addition a targeted focus on the deployment of fuel cell vehicles to meet their zero emission objectives. This is supported by a planned hydrogen infrastructure schedule of funding and investment that will see numerous hydrogen refueller stations be deployed in accordance with the California Road Map: The Commercialization of Hydrogen Fuel Cell Vehicles.
ITM Power is a company that specializes in hydrogen refuellers and energy storage products, and an active sponsor of CHBC's recently launched Hydrogen Energy Storage Program.
"We are delighted to have an active role on the CHBC Board of Directors and to actively support the development of the Council's objectives in expanding the adoption of hydrogen as the 100% renewable energy medium," said Geoff Budd, of ITM Power. "I am looking forward to participating in the Hydrogen Energy Storage Program as a member of the Council's Hydrogen Energy Storage Committee and working with the other Board members to develop the CHBC objectives and strategies."
"These additions recognize the growing importance manufacturers play in the organization", said Mark Abramowitz, President of the CHBC. "With Geoff and Anca, the CHBC elevates its renewable hydrogen energy and fuel cell manufacturing expertise on the Board, which allows the CHBC to position itself for a continued path of growth."
