ROGER FAXON TO JOIN ITV BOARD

Roger Faxon has agreed to join the board of ITV as a non-executive director with effect from 31 October 2012.

Roger was Chief Executive Officer of EMI Group until 28 September 2012, having taken the role in 2010.  He was previously Chief Executive of EMI Music Publishing.  He has extensive experience in international media and digital rights management.

Roger Faxon was Chief Executive Officer of EMI Group Limited from June 2010 to September 2012.  He was Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of EMI Music Publishing from March 2007. 

Roger joined EMI in 1994 as Senior Vice President, Business Development & Strategy and was responsible for EMI's worldwide planning process and development of market strategies for over seventy countries.  He has held a number of senior roles across the EMI Group serving as President and Chief Operating Officer of EMI Music Publishing, Joint Chief Executive Officer of EMI Music Publishing, a director of EMI Group Plc (until 2007) and Chief Financial Officer of EMI Group.

Prior to 1994, Roger held finance, operations and general management positions. These posts included five years with Sotheby's, latterly as Managing Director, Sotheby's Europe and, previously, Chief Operating Officer, Sotheby's North and South America. Throughout the 1980s he held several posts in the film and television industries. From 1980 to 1984 he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Lucas Film Limited where he guided the financial and operational affairs including the motion pictures Raiders of the Lost Ark, Return of the Jedi and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. From 1984 to 1986, he served as founding partner of the Mount Company, a motion picture and television production company. From 1986 to 1990, he worked with Tri-Star and Columbia Pictures rising to the post of Senior Executive Vice President of Columbia Pictures at which time he was responsible for directing the studio's marketing, distribution, business affairs, physical production and finance departments. Prior to that he held several senior posts in the U.S. Government. Earlier he spent six years on the staff of the US Congress.

Until recently he served as a board member of Music Choice (Digital Cable Radio) in the United States and Chairman of its Remuneration Committee, and as a director of the American Society Of Composers Authors & Publishers.   He has also served as a director of Lancit Media Entertainment Ltd (formerly Lancit Media Productions Ltd), VIVA Television in Germany, where he served as Chairman, and Channel V Networks in Asia.

Roger was a director of Maltby Investments Ltd the vehicle used by Terra Firma Partners to finance the acquisition of EMI Group.  In February 2010 Maltby Investments entered voluntary receivership and was immediately acquired by Citibank.  He was then appointed to the board of the acquiring vehicle EMI Group Global Ltd and remained CEO of the operating subsidiaries.

Roger holds a B.A. degree with a concentration in International Relations & Political Economy from the Johns Hopkins University of Baltimore, Maryland.

Since Archie Norman's appointment as Chairman of ITV, the ITV board has undergone substantial rationalisation with the retirement of eight directors and the appointment of Adam Crozier as Chief Executive. Following Roger's appointment it will consist of the Chairman, two executive Directors, and five non-executive Directors.
