                               Board Appointment


The Board of Phytopharm is pleased to announce that Jayne Allan, currently the
Director of Clinical Research for Phytopharm, has been appointed to the Board
as Director of Resource and Planning.  In this role she will have
responsibility for co-ordinating Phytopharm's development programmes and
dealing with human resource and personnel issues.

Commenting on her appointment, Richard Dixey, Chief Executive of Phytopharm,
said:

'Jayne has a proven ability to manage the matrix of responsibilities required
to develop Phytopharm's broad portfolio of products which will stand her in
good stead in her new role.  We are very pleased to see someone of Jayne's
capabilities being appointed to Phytopharm's Board.'
