                       NON -EXECUTIVE BOARD APPOINTMENT

James Halstead plc announce the appointment of Anthony Wild as senior
non-executive director.

Mr Wild is a chartered accountant and prominent local businessman holding
other directorships in the property and financial sectors.

He will chair the Audit and Remuneration committees of the Board.

Commenting on the appointment, the Chairman, Geoffrey Halstead said:
