                            Appointment of Director


I would advise that, at a Board Meeting held this morning, Mr Martin Paul Magee
was appointed to the post of Group Finance Director, with effect from today.


Martin Magee moves to the post of Group Finance Director from Scottish Power
plc,  where he held a number of senior financial management positions in both
the UK and the USA. He joined Scottish Power plc in 1993 from Stakis plc (now
part of Hilton plc). He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of
Scotland.
