                      Completion of Purchase of Argillon


Johnson Matthey announces that it has today completed the purchase of Argillon
Group from Ceramics Luxembourg 2(f) S.a r.l., a company owned by Kohlberg Kravis
Roberts & Co. funds.

This completes the transaction which was first announced on 10th December 2007.
