BOARD OF DIRECTORS
James Strachan has taken the decision not to stand for re-election at the Company's forthcoming Annual General Meeting to be held on 2nd February 2017. Accordingly, he will not be succeeding James Long as Chairman, as previously announced to shareholders.
Upon Mr Long's retirement at the conclusion of the Company's 2017 Annual General Meeting, Bronwyn Curtis will succeed him as Chairman.
Ms Curtis joined the Board in 2013. During her career she held several positions at HSBC Bank plc, including Head of Global Research, Executive Editor and Senior Adviser to the Head of Global Banking & Markets. Her prior positions included Head of European Broadcasting at Bloomberg LP, Chief Economist for Nomura International, and Global Head of Foreign Exchange and Fixed Income Strategy at Deutsche Bank.
Her other current appointments include Governor of the London School of Economics, board member of CEPR and Australian Business, and the Advisory Board of the Imperial College Business School. She is a non-executive Director of The Scottish American Investment Company PLC and Mercator Media Ltd. Ms Curtis is also a widely-published author and a regular speaker on television and radio.
Ms Curtis holds a Masters in Economics from the London School of Economics, and is an Economics graduate of La Trobe University, Australia. She was awarded an OBE for services to business economics in 2008.
