JPMORGAN EUROPEAN SMALLER COMPANIES TRUST PLC

CHANGE IN DIRECTORATE

The Board of JPMorgan European Smaller Companies Trust plc (the "Company") is pleased to announce the appointment of Nicholas Smith as an independent non-executive Director of the Company with effect from 1^st May 2015.

Mr Smith is a Chartered accountant with a long-term career in investment banking and as a CFO of a large Asian investment bank. He is non-executive Chairman of Ophir Energy PLC and Aberdeen New Thai Investment Trust plc and non-executive Director of Schroder Asia Pacific Investment Fund.

His former directorships of AIM and overeas listed companies during the last five years were of Asian Citrus Holdings Ltd (until 2013), Sorbic International Ltd (until 2012), Japan Opportunities II Fund (until 2012) and PLUS Markets Group plc (until 2012).

Mr Smith does not currently hold any shares in the Company.

There is no further information to be disclosed under Listing Rule 9.6.13 R (2) to (6) for Mr Smith.
