JPMorgan Fleming Japanese Smaller Companies Investment Trust plc (the 'Company')

Allotment of New Subscription Shares

Further to recent announcements, the Board of Directors of the Company announces that it has today allotted 7,798,873 Subscription Shares.

Application has been made for admission of such Shares to the Official List and to trading on the main market of the London Stock Exchange. Dealings in these Shares are expected to commence on 5 March 2009. 

Following admission of these Shares there will be 39,309,423 Ordinary Shares, including 337,000 shares held in Treasury, and 7,798,873 Subscription Shares in issue.

The Subscription Shares will trade under the code 'JPSS' from 5 March 2009.
