JPMorgan Smaller Companies Investment Trust plc (the "Company") is considering the possibility of issuing convertible unsecured loan stock ("CULS") in order to provide the Company with structural, long term gearing that will enable it to capitalise on opportunities in the small cap universe and, potentially, to grow the Company in future upon conversion into ordinary shares.

The Company intends to consult with shareholders on the matter and expects to make a further announcement in due course based on their responses.
