Kier awarded £120m environmental services contract
Kier has been awarded an environmental services contract valued at around £120m by four councils in East Sussex. Worth approximately £12m per annum, the contract is for ten years with an optional ten-year extension.
There will be a phased start to the four councils' services, with Eastbourne and Wealden beginning in April 2013, followed by Hastings in July 2013, and Rother in April 2014.
The contract will cover nearly 200,000 properties and will include waste and recycling collections, street cleansing, and beach cleaning, as well as the management and marketing of collected recycling.
Kier Group chief executive, Paul Sheffield, commented: "We are delighted to have been selected by the partnership for this contract, which will draw on our many strengths in urban and rural waste management, along with our experience in beach and street cleaning.
"We intend to unify the provision of services across the partnership area in order to provide best value for residents and a truly integrated environmental service."
