Kier preferred for £55m services contract in Sheffield
Kier has been selected by Sheffield City Council as its preferred bidder to supply corporate property and facilities management services under a £55m, seven-year contract.
The contract, which carries an option to extend up to a further six years, is for the management of Council buildings and land, and the cleaning of many Council properties. The transfer of additional services and staff from other council directorates is planned for years two and three of the contract, significantly increasing the value of the project.
Around 400 staff will transfer from the Council to Kier.
Kier Group chief executive John Dodds said: "This is an important stage in the development of Kier's ability to offer its customers a total property package. Strategic management of property assets is now playing a vitally important role for organisations in both the public and private sectors. The award of this contract to Kier by Sheffield City Council, endorses our capability to utilise the strengths of the whole Group to manage sustainable and efficient property portfolios."
Kier is already in a strategic partnership with Sheffield City Council wherein it maintains the Council's 50,000 plus housing stock and municipal buildings and is one of five contractors delivering Sheffield's Decent Homes refurbishment programme.
