Management Changes to the Electrical Sector

                   KINGFISHER ELECTRICAL SECTOR DEVELOPMENT

Kingfisher  plc  announces management changes to its electrical  sector.   The
Kingfisher  electrical  sector (KESA) provides the  leadership  structure  for
Europe's  third largest electrical stores group, which had annual turnover  in
1998/9 of £2.7bn.   The sector includes French market leader Darty, Comet, the
UK's No. 2, as well as operations in France, Germany, Belgium and Holland.

Philippe Frances, Executive Director of Kingfisher plc and Chief Executive  of
KESA  has  appointed Roger Holmes as Chief Executive of KESA.  Roger has  been
Chief  Executive Designate since June 1999.  Kingfisher will also be proposing
that  Philippe Frances will be appointed a member of the Castorama Supervisory
Board.   He  will continue as Chairman of the Supervisory Boards of Darty  and
BUT  and  consequently, with his supervisory role for KESA and  Liberty  Surf,
Kingfisher's ISP joint venture with Group Arnault.

The  KESA  executive includes the Chief Executive, the Chairman  and  Managing
Directors  of  the sector's operating companies, as well as functional  heads.

These are:

KESA  Chief Executive - Roger Holmes, also an Executive Director of Kingfisher
plc.
KESA Senior Vice President - Jean-Noel Labroue, responsible for international
development and infrastructure.  Formerly Chairman of the Board of Darty.
KESA Senior Vice President - Serge Amiard, responsible for sourcing.
KESA Finance Director - Martin Reavley.

Darty  Executive Chairman of the Board - Jacques Planchot.  Formerly  Managing
Director of Darty.
Darty Managing Director (Paris Region)  - Christian de Bronac.

BUT Executive Chairman of the Board - Daniel Fontaine.

Comet Managing Director - Rob Cissell.  Succeeds Joe Riordan, who after five
years with Kingfisher, is returning to his native Canada.    Rob was formerly
Commercial Director of Woolworths.

ProMarkt Managing Director - Philipp Spangenberg.

New Vanden Borre Managing Director - Vic Ragoen.

BCC Managing Director - Peter Brussel.
