DIRECTORATE CHANGES
Land Securities announces that Alison Carnwath has been appointed to the Board
as a non-executive director with effect from 1 September 2004. On joining the
Board, she will serve as an independent member of both the Audit and
Remuneration committees.
Alison, 51, qualified as an accountant in 1979 and began her banking career in
1980, when she joined Lloyds Bank International. In 1983, she joined J Henry
Schroder Wagg & Co Ltd, becoming a director in 1988, gaining considerable
corporate finance experience. From 1993 until 1997, she was a Partner at
Phoenix Securities and, following its takeover, subsequently a Managing Director
at DLJ.
Alison also has extensive experience as a non-executive director, with a broad
range of companies such as the Nationwide Building Society, Arcadia Group,
National Power and Sears. Her current non-executive directorships include the,
Gallaher Group Plc, Friends Provident plc, Man Group plc Glas Cymru and the
Chairmanship of The Vitec Group plc. Alison has announced her intention to step
down as Chairman of The Vitec Group by the end of 2004.
Commenting on the appointment, Land Securities' Chairman, Peter Birch, said,
'Alison's extensive experience as a senior non-executive director across a wide
range of industries, coupled with her banking and accounting background, will
bring a wealth of senior guidance and counsel to the Board. We are delighted to
welcome her to the Company.'
Alison Carnwath added, 'I am extremely pleased to be joining Land Securities at

Land Securities also confirms that Francis Salway and Mark Collins have today
assumed their roles as Group Chief Executive and Chief Operating Officer
respectively and, as announced previously, both Ian Henderson and Peter Freeman
stepped down from the Board today.
Peter Birch commented, 'The Board would like to take this opportunity again to
thank Ian Henderson for his tremendous contribution to the Company over the last
33 years and are grateful that he leaves the Group extremely well positioned for
future growth under the stewardship of Francis Salway. We are very pleased that
we will continue to benefit from his experience until the end of 2004, as he
leads the Group's representations on government and public sector initiatives.
We are also pleased that Peter Freeman will continue to act as a consultant to
the Group.'
